I am proud to announce that the Feather-Touch feature has successfully completed our field-testing program in the guns of some of our factory sponsored players and is ready for the 2009 season.

The Feather-Touch manifold provides pneumatic resistance so that air inside the Power Core will act as a buffer, softening the force used to close the bolt. The result is that the Luxe is even more gentle with brittle paint. As a side benefit, the recoil is reduced even further and the Luxe shoots even quieter.

The upgrade consists of a new solenoid manifold that has a pair of new o-rings, giving it airtight exhaust paths, from the solenoid valve.

Starting today, Feather-Touch is a standard feature built into every Luxe we ship. The Feather-Touch manifold will also be available as an upgrade for our existing family of Luxe owners. You should be able to get them within the next few weeks from your Luxe Prestige Dealer at a low price.

So, I got my new Luxe back from Darryl. It is Luxe 923 that came with the new feather-touch manifold. I was having bolt stick/lock, so I sent it in to Darryl. He fixed it up and here is my review with vids.

I also have Luxe 642, which has the standard manifold. So, I was able to do a comparison between the 2 Luxes of having/not having the new manifold.

Ok, now with the 2 efficiency tests...I ran into some tank problems :mad: .
Everything was going so smoothly until the end when the tank was starting to become empty. During the last pod on both gun efficiency tests...the tank started leaking. It was towards the end but I can't say for sure how many more shots I could have gotten off if the leak didn't happen.

A couple things I need to point out...
Both guns are not broken in! Luxe 642 has only had 1-2 cases through it and Luxe 923 is brand new. Both were using a Ninja 68/45 that was filled to about 4k-4100psi. I was using stock barrels but with a .689 SS insert. I was in PSP 11BPS and both were chrono'd right around 285fps.

So you know, Luxes with the new feather-touch have a stock dwell of 14 while the standard manifold Luxe has a stock dwell of 12.

Now, for the brittle paint tests. I put 2 pods of Evil paint outside in 30-35 degree weather for a few hours. They were very brittle and some were dimpled.

SO, the results...

Efficiency Test - Both seem to be the same. It's hard to say for sure with having the tank leaks right at the end both times. So I'm going to assume that either way I would have been able to get about 1300 shots off with drop-off happening right around that point.
Also, Luxe 642 had about 1-2 cases on it while Luxe 923 was new. And again, stock dwell is different on both guns.

Brittle Paint Test - Both did good here...obviously the new feather-touch manifold shined here. No breaks at all while the standard manifold had 2-3.

Kick/Smoothness - Before I shot my new Luxe with the new feather-touch, I never thought my Luxe 642 had any kick at all. It is already so smooth but then I shot the new Luxe and wow! I can honestly say that the new feather-touch manifold actually has less kick and is smoother, which sounds weird because the Luxe with the standard manifold really doesn't have kick either! Simply put, the new feather-touch manifold is smoother.

ROF - I didn't really test this out. With the new PSP rules anyways...I just had them both set at 11 since my older Luxe lowest bps limit is 11. They both obviously didn't show any problems at all.


So, now your asking...is the new feather-touch manifold worth it...
Personally, I'd definitely have to say yes! Efficiency wise don't expect a whole lot from it, you may get an extra pod. Where the feather-touch shows its worth is in the kick/smoothness and brittle paint areas. I really can't explain it in words on how you can have a gun that is so smooth and has barely any kick already and make it even smoother and with even less kick. With the brittle paint, you can see the difference in the video I posted...not one break while the standard manifold had 2-3.

For $29.99 or whatever the actual cost ends up being...This is a steal for what you get. I highly recommend you getting it and I can guarantee you will not be disappointed now that DLX is working out all the kinks.
