Ab morgen (ein Tag später wegen Wilma) tobt der World Cup 2005 im Disney World in Orlando. Neben ner ganzen Menge geiler Spiele werden natürlich alle möglichen neuen Markierer Modelle und die ganzen neuen Klamotten Reihen und alles Anderes was sonst noch den Geldbeutel erleichtert vorgestellt.

Wir versuchen natürlich alles was neu und spannend ist, so gut wie möglich zu covern und in diesem Thread abzubilden. Natürlich ist es cool, wenn Ihr mithelft und das was Ihr entdeckt hier einfach postet.

Wednesday World Cup event coverage

World Cup Wednesday event report

On Wednesday there was a flurry of activity as Divisional X Ball matches and 5 Man kicked off. The rescheduled D1 5 Man teams played all of their eight prelim games in one day. Runnin Wild and Miami Rage/Str8killas came out of top leading this division. D2 and D3 5 Man will commence on Thursday.

In D2 X Ball action today, Rock-It Kids and Aftermath both fared as expected. Surprises for this day thus far are heavy hitters LTZ and Punisher’s PB losing a match early in the event thus going to the Loser’s bracket. This is a first for either team to lose their first matches. We’ll see as the week goes along if these defeats were just flukes, but you all have to remember, any team that is in the Loser’s bracket is constantly playing sudden death. You lose, your event is done.

In D3 X Ball, San Diego Aftermath, Palm Beach Vipers, Tippmann Effect, Ultimate Kidz, and East Coast Empire are leading in their perspective divisions. Due to the nature of the scheduling beast, some teams are already packing it home after going two and out.

The NXL, for the first time, many of you will be able to see these matches as the league has lifted the embargo on video cameras onto the field. Look for Traumahead Sportz to be here to capture it all.

Four matches, eight teams go at it in the quarter-finals round. Each set of teams play a best two out of three matches to advance to the semi-finals round. The first match of the day was the Oakland Assassins and Philadelphia Americans. Oakland Assassins finished off the match with an 11 to 5 win over Philly. Philly will have to dig deep, if they lose tomorrow their quest for a third straight NXL Championship is over.

Last year’s NXL Champions runner-ups, Detroit Strange, came out hard on a very good Chicago Aftershock team. Detroit came by with a win with a score of 9 to 7.

Baltimore Trauma and Los Angeles Ironmen faced off with the third NXL match of the day. Baltimore would be considered a favorite to come away with this match up but Los Angeles Ironmen came out hard and strong defeating Baltimore with a score of 11 to 7.

Probably the fans’ favorite match up of the day was the Boston Red Legion and New York Xtremes match. Boston Red Legion (the Russian Legion) came into the NXL like a storm winning all but two matches this season. The Russians have attained a huge fan base in such a short time, many pit Boston to wear the NXL Championship rings come the end of the week. New York surprised many with their win over San Diego Legacy on Sunday, and many were surprised that they held up a good fight against Boston. Unfortunately New York still lost the match with a respectable score of Boston 11 and New York 7.

The largest annual paintball tournament once again comes to Orlando, Florida. The World Cup has been the season capper for almost a decade now and has been the biggest and most looked upon event for the year. This year is no different. World Cup has nearly 400 teams registered to play 5 Man, Divisional X Ball, or the NXL. Once again, this event is held at the Wide World of Sports Complex on Disneyworld property.

Officially the NXL kicked off the event on Sunday with four teams competing to make it out of the qualifying round, you can think of it as the wild card teams that didn’t fare well over the course of the NXL season. San Diego Legacy and New York Xtreme faced off in a best two out of three match to see who would move on to the quarter-finals as did Philadelphia Americans (last year’s NXL Champions) and Miami Effect.

NY Xtreme took both matches on Sunday and sent home SD Legacy very early in the competition. This was somewhat of a shock to many as SD had a better record and all season long NY just seemed to struggle.

The reigning champions also took down Miami in two straight matches. Both New York Xtreme and Philadelphia move on to the quarter-finals. New York Xtreme goes on to face off with Boston Red Legion on Wednesday. Philadelphia Americans move on to face off with Oakland Assassins on Wednesday as well.

If you haven’t heard Hurricane Wilma blew through this area on Monday. Due to this Disney officials would not allow anyone onto the property. This delayed teams from registering and shifted games to start on Wednesday morning instead of the earlier scheduled Tuesday.
